Arrangements for the offer of Year 7 places on 1 March 2022

Information about the arrangements for secondary school offer day will be posted on council's website and emailed to Year 6 parents/carers next week.  This will set out the process for the offer of secondary school places on Thursday 1 March 2022. Information will also be shared on the council's social media accounts prior to national offer day.

Waiting lists will be available from Monday 21 March 2022. Waiting list information will not be available before that date.

This is to allow families time to accept or refuse the offers made by the deadline of 15 March 2022 and schools to write to those who have not responded to their offers, the outcome of which will be more robust waiting lists.  All waiting lists will be made available from the same date, 21 March 2022, to ensure consistency for all families.

Mentors In Violence Prevention (MVP) 3 HRS - For Education - Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) is a programme designed to help young people speak out against bullying, violence and abusive behaviour. MVP improves the culture inside any organisation or community. MVP works because young people become the trainers and influencers. No longer are teachers the only ones who manage negative behaviour. With MVP it is the pupils themselves who play just as big a part and ensure good behaviour exists within their school and local community. The programme helps reduce the number of temporary and permanent school exclusions by providing young people with leadership skills and challenging unacceptable behaviours.

Working with Trauma in Early Years (2 HRS) By focusing on Trauma in the Early Years, practitioners will be able to support children in identifying how to stay safe and encourage them to share when they may be struggling. This training aims to support practitioners in understanding signs of trauma and how it may present in the early years.

If following completion of this course, you want to know more or become actively involved in violence prevention and reduction initiatives in your area please contact your local Community Navigator (details on our website:  https://westmidlands-vru.org/ ).
