Lighting up the library for Armed Forces Day 2026
Saturday 27 June

After sunset on Saturday 27 June, the exterior façade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up red, white and blue to mark Armed Forces Day 2026.
Armed Forces Day in the UK takes place on the last Saturday each June, falling this year on 27 June.
It is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.
It marks the culmination of a week of celebrations when the public show their appreciation for the Armed Forces community. Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much-valued morale boost for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
The Armed Forces Community includes the Armed Forces (serving members), Veterans (anyone who has served at any time), Reservists (those who give up their spare time to serve), Cadets (young people) and their families.
The Armed Forces Day website has lots on information on it’s history and how people can get involved.
