Lighting up the library for the NSPCC Christmas campaign

Wednesday 21 December

On Wednesday evening the exterior facade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up green in support of this years NSPCC Christmas campaign.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is the UK's leading children’s charity who have been looking out for children for over 130 years.

This Christmas, Childline is expecting a call from a child every 25 seconds. There are calls about abuse, neglect, self-harm and anxiety — things no child should have to deal with. Children will also call Childline on Christmas Day for help, on what should be the most magical day of the year. Childline is the only service in the UK there specifically for children 365 days a year, even on Christmas Day, whatever their worry.

There are many ways your can help.

Get a letter from Santa

Real Christmas magic doesn’t come from the latest must-have toy. It comes from Santa himself… in a letter! But time’s running out – order now to get your letter in time for Christmas.

Each letter comes with guaranteed joy and wonder for your little loved ones – because of course only Santa knows those very special, unique details about who they are and what activities they love to do.

You can have your letter written in English or Welsh (Santa is well-travelled!) and with eight new magical designs on offer, there’s something for every child. Will they like the Spirit of Christmas? Or would our festive footy Christmas Cup Fever theme grab their attention?

While you’re sending Christmas magic to your little one, a suggested donation of £8 could give vital support to a child by helping ensure that Childline stays open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A child will contact Childline every 25 seconds this winter. And every gift to the NSPCC helps us be there for children who reach out for help – even on Christmas Day. Start to create your letter.
