Disaster Victim Identification Conference

Members of the Birmingham Resilience Team attended a Disaster Victim Identification conference. We shared knowledge to improve our understanding of how best to support families during these incredibly difficult times.

DVI Conference PresenterOn Friday 30 November 2018, members of the Birmingham Resilience Team joined colleagues across the West Midlands at the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Conference hosted by the West Midlands Local Resilience Forum (LRF).

Opened by the West Midlands Regional Disaster Victim Identification Lead from West Midlands Police, the event included speakers with experience in various DVI roles. All of the speakers were very inspiring and triggered some insightful discussions enabling partners to increase their understanding of the topic, the processes involved and to identify areas of best practice to ensure families receive the best support possible during incredibly difficult times.

The team came away with nothing but praise and gratitude for the work of DVI teams who have an incredibly difficult job but deliver it with nothing but professionalism, dignity and respect.

Always a difficult topic to discuss but invaluable when it comes to increasing the level of support we can provide.
