Birmingham Connected extra - plan ahead to keep moving this weekend

Delays in Birmingham city centre this weekend due to high visitor numbers

Birmingham city centre, delays expected Saturday, plan ahead

Travelling into Birmingham this weekend

This weekend will be one of the busiest of the year, with thousands of people visiting Birmingham city centre for the Christmas attractions and hoping to grab a Black Friday deal.

If you are planning a trip, you can help to reduce congestion by thinking about when and how you travel:

  • Saturday afternoon will be busiest. Consider visiting on Saturday morning or Sunday instead.
  • If you have a car, give it the day off. Use public transport, walking or cycling (or a combination of these).
  • By Saturday lunch time, car parks in the main shopping area will be full. If you've had to come by car, don't drive around looking for a space; use Snow Hill, Millennium Point or Five Ways car parks instead.

Saturday strikes on West Midlands Railway are continuing. Routes into Birmingham will be operating an amended service, so you can still use the train but check times and expect it to be busier than usual.
