SENAR Phase Transfer preferences for pupils with an EHCP
The SENAR Phase Transfer preferences for pupils with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) form must be completed by someone with parental responsibility for the child. This could be a parent, carer, guardian or social worker.
Before you start
If you have a specific school that you would like your child to attend, you should:
- contact the school and arrange a visit to discuss your child's special education needs
- involve the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) from your child’s current school
Every school has their own admission arrangements booklet or website that explains their:
- curriculum
- facilities
- achievement aims for their pupils
- SEND offering to pupils with identified special needs
For more information on schools in the city, view the Birmingham Schools directory. You can search the directory by school type, name or distance from your home by entering your postcode.
What you will need
You will need:
- your child's ID number, also known as their Impulse ID - this can be found on their EHCP and the letter that you received by email or post
- the names of the schools you want to choose
Check the names of the schools you want to choose carefully, as some schools have similar or shared names.
You will be asked to choose up to 2 school preferences before completing the rest of the form.
If the school you search for does not appear on the preference page, you can skip the selection and type in the school’s name later in the form.
