IN THE NEWS
FREE - Child Car Seat Testing Events
Parents and carers who are unsure about the fitting or suitability of their
child car seat can have them checked free. Testing events are taking place
across the city free of charge during week commencing Monday 22 June.
Trading Standards and Road Safety staff will be on hand to answer your
questions. For details of the times and venues select the Child Car Seat

We Have Moved The
Consumer Centre, Corporation Street has now moved to new accommodation at
Ladbrooke House, Bordesley Street, Digbeth. You can call in person or
telephone us during the following hours:-

Monday to Thursday, 9.00 to 4.00 on Fridays and 9.30 to 4.30 on
Saturdays.
Personal Visit: to our office at Ladbrooke House,
Bordesley Street, Digbeth, B5 5BL between the hours of 9.00 to 5.00
Monday to Thursday, 9.00 to 4.00 on Fridays.
Please note that we
can not see personal callers at Ladbrooke House on Saturdays. Face to
face advice is available on Saturdays between 9.30 and 12.30 from the CAB
in Gazette Building, Corporation Street, Birmingham City Centre.

Update 18th
March 2009.Birmingham Trading Standards has completed its
investigation into complaints from customers of James Thornton Ltd. We
have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to prove that criminal
offences were committed and therefore no further action will be taken
against the company or its directors.
No Cold Calling Zones
Three 'No Cold Calling' Zones have been set up in Birmingham. These are in
Sheldon/Garretts Green, Sparkhill, Yardley. For more information and to

Counterfeiting Hotline Do you want
to complain about counterfeit goods? Trading Standards has set up a
Counterfeiting Hotline which allows you to contact us in confidence and
pass on any information you have. We will investigate and take action

Clamping - advice for motorists Last minute shopping? Need somewhere to
park? Tempted to use that waste ground or company car park? Beware,
land owners are increasingly using car clampers to catch drivers who park
on their land.The cost to the driver can be considerable and your car
could be towed away. Look around for warning notices - they may be hidden
away so check carefully. Don't be reassured because other cars are parked
there - they may be part of the trap! If in doubt, park elsewhere. For
