New way to apply for Schools’ posts
From October 2009, Birmingham's Schools Human Resources begins a new partnership with the Department for Children, Schools and Families to launch an innovative online recruitment system, named 'The Schools Recruitment Service'.
This will be a free service, allowing potential applicants to apply for almost all school based posts. You will be able to:
- apply for both teaching and support staff jobs online;
- manage your own 'personalised recruitment account' when applying for jobs in Birmingham schools by creating a role profile, allowing you to be matched against suitable school based vacancies;
- store your job applications in one place, making completion of new applications quicker and easier;
- receive job alerts, by email or SMS texts, for specific roles in schools across the city which match your role profile;
- submit details about your employment background to date (experience, job and geographical preferences) which can be included as part of our internal talent pool, accessible by Headteachers;
- allow the Schools HR Service to contact you about potential vacancies, even before you have searched for them.
Initially vacancies will still be advertised in the usual media including the Times Education Supplement (TES). As take up grows, it is hoped that this will quickly become the main way to search and apply for schools based jobs in Birmingham and across the country.
You could be one of the first to access this new service, which will start with ten schools across Birmingham in September 2009. You will be able to upload your full details on to the system from 21 September onwards.
Your interest in working in our schools is important to us, so please register at www.schoolsrecruitment.dcsf.gov.uk.
