Public information statement about swine flu

The city council is following the guidance from the Department of Health and World Health Organisation and is working closely with local agencies to ensure that we monitor the situation and are prepared.

Birmingham City Council recognises that residents and others may have concerns about the recent media reporting on outbreaks of swine influenza (flu)

We would like to emphasise:

There is no immediate cause for concern
The NHS message "catch it, bin it, kill it" will prevent spread of infection:
Catch it: Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your coughs or sneeze
Bin it: Bin the tissue
Kill it: Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly
