Study Support is about Birmingham's children and young people choosing
for themselves to have fun and learn at the same time, outside of normal
school hours.
You can choose to go to Study Support before school, at lunchtimes,
after-school, at weekends, during school holidays - depending on what's
on offer in their neighbourhood and what they want to achieve.
Sometimes Study Support happens in school and sometimes out of school in
local libraries; museums; sports centres; community centres; and even in
local parks.
There are homework clubs, sports activities, circus skills, chess clubs,
creative arts, foreign languages, gardening to cookery, DJ workshops,
learning to play a musical instrument, study skills, community
volunteering – the list of possibilities continues to grow.
Study Support sessions are all provided by fully qualified staff.
The idea behind Study Support is to give the city's children and young
people more chances to have wider experiences that involve learning – so
that they stand a better chance of doing even better in school, and
improve their job prospects later on.
Study Support is a national scheme that covers the whole country and
children and young people everywhere are reaping the benefits and
learning to become more effective learners. Information about the
national scheme is available from the DSCF
web site.
