Regulatory Services Enforcement Policy
This page can be referred to as :-http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/regulatoryenforcementpolicy
The Regulatory Services enforcement policy which is attached below sets out what businesses and others being regulated can expect from the three enforcement sections that make up Regulatory Services within Birmingham City Council, namely Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing.
Fair and effective enforcement is essential to protect the economic interests and health and safety of the public and businesses in the city. It is recognised that decisions about enforcement action, and in particular the decision to prosecute, can have serious implications for all involved and the enforcement policy seeks to ensure that enforcement action is fair, proportionate and consistent and that everyone understands the principles which are applied when enforcement action is considered.
We are committed to undertaking regular reviews of our enforcement policy to ensure that the policy takes account of best practice and changes to legislation.
If you would like a paper copy of the enforcement policy and/or you would like to comment on the document please e-mail either publichealth@birmingham.gov.uk or tradingstandards@birmingham.gov.uk or licensing@birmingham.gov.uk
On request, the policy can be made available on tape, in braille or in large type.
Our Traders Prosecuted and Licensing Prosecutions web pages provide details on the more recent cases which have been before the courts.
