Ian Rankin

Ian Rankin visits Birmingham Libraries

The UK's best selling crime writer Ian Rankin headlined Birmingham Libraries Festival Fringe programme, which is now in its third year.

Birmingham Libraries were privileged to host the evening as Ian launched the publication of The Impossible Dead at the Library Theatre. Ian delighted readers who were given an insight into his work and particularly the Malcolm Fox series. One reader commented: "An excellent talk, vibrant and entertaining and very insightful. Its always nice to meet a 'hero' and get your book signed!"

Birmingham Poet Laureate 2011-12

The new Birmingham Poet Laureate was announced on National Poetry Day.

She is Jan Watts and she will be writing and performing poems in the city throughout the next year.

The Young Poet Laureate 2011-12 is Damani Dennisur.
