What is Birmingham Home Choice?
Birmingham Home Choice is the new way for some people to rent a home from the council, Midland Heart or Family Housing Associations.
Birmingham City Council is phasing in Birmingham Home Choice, it started with customers registered for one bedroom accommodation on 25 February 2010. Birmingham Home Choice will be available to customers needing larger accommodation later in the year. We will write to those customers nearer to the time.
The scheme is open to all customers who are registered with Birmingham City Council. Customers will be able to see advertisements of vacant homes and tell us whether they are interested in a property. We call this 'making a bid' or 'bidding'. Customers will be able to bid on council properties.
The scheme is also open to customers who are registered with Midland Heart and Family Housing Associations. Customers will be able to bid only on properties advertised by Family and Midland Heart.
