Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail 2008

Birmingham is once again preparing for the Britain in Bloom competition and finalising the Floral Trail 2009.

The full length trail will commence from the Mailbox and take you through the canal paths, City Centre Gardens and Birmingham Cathedral before finishing in the Jewellery Quarter. The trail itself is thought to be approximately 3.5 miles and has 19 features along the way.

The Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail won the Gold Award in the 'Regeneration' category of the Heart of England in Bloom competition. Birmingham was also awarded Overall Category Winner and has now been nominated to enter the national Britain in Bloom 2009 competition. Plans are well underway for this year's entry and details will be announced soon.

There are many architectural highlights along the route as well as a number of regeneration projects bringing positive changes to the face of the city.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) theme for Britain in Bloom 2008 was 'Local Roots', celebrating local history, heritage and communities. The Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail celebrated key times and events in Birmingham over the past 250 years.

Highlights on the trail included stunning floral features and themed flowerbeds situated at key locations.
