So what can we do?

We have three main objectives in the event of a major emergency:

- to support the community affected by the emergency
- to support the Emergency Services responding to the emergency
- to maintain normal services wherever possible

Birmingham prepared

Here we look at how Birmingham City Council and its partners in the West Midlands are working together to prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Communities prepared

Whether you are a community or residents' group, individual household or citizen, there is always something you can do to make sure you are more prepared.

Businesses prepared

Here we provide advice and guidance on how businesses can reduce the impact of emergencies on their companies. Doing nothing is not an option. Experience shows that even relatively short-term disruption can force business closure. Some relatively simple pre-planning can avoid this.
