It has been another successful year for the Development Directorate. Our
work has been recognised with 57
awards in 2008. We look to build on and repeat this success in 2009.
Welcome to the Development Directorate of Birmingham City Council.
The
Development Directorate was formed in 2002 as part of a fundamental
restructure of Council services inspired by Going Local, the Council
strategy for devolution and localisation. The Directorate brings
together the Council’s development responsibilities, for which there are
two main themes: growth and renewal.
Our work is concerned with supporting growth of the local economy,
helping to position Birmingham as a major European and international
city and replicating the success of the city centre’s renaissance in
local neighbourhoods.
