John Skirrow Wright
This head sculpture, by artist William Bloye, is situated in a niche just inside the main entrance to the Council House, on the left-side wall as you enter the building.
The wording of the plaque below the head is:
John Skirrow Wright
Born February 2nd 1822
Died in this building
April 15th 1880
In memory of the simplicity, kindliness, and integrity of his life, and of his unselfish, untiring & patriotic devotion as a public man.
