Local Land and Property Gazetteer
What is the Local Land and Property Gazetteer?
Our LLPG is a database that contains accurate and up-to-date address details of all properties within Birmingham. The aim of the LLPG is to create a single definitive list of land and property to replace the many separate databases within the Council.
The LLPG is much more than a simple list of addresses; it contains information regarding land use, buildings in multiple occupation or within complexes and other structures such as churches, telephone boxes, recycling points, telecommunications masts and electricity substations. It also contains grid coordinates for each property so that they can be shown spatially using a Geographical Information System (GIS) and history regarding property changes.
Our Street Naming and Numbering Officer, who is responsible for allocating all new addresses within Birmingham, provides the LLPG Team with details of the new addresses that need adding to the LLPG database.
Our LLPG, along with those of over 350 other local authorities, feeds into the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), which covers the whole of England and Wales and contains more than 30 million residential, business and non-mailing addresses.
