Hand luggage guidelines for European air travel

The hand luggage guidelines introduced on 6 November 2006 in response to increased security concerns are still in force.

Hand luggage - each passenger is permitted to carry ONE item of hand luggage through the airport security search point. The dimensions of this item must not exceed a maximum length of 56cm, width of 45cm and depth of 25cm (including wheels, handles, side pockets etc). A handbag will be classed as one item. There are no exceptions.

Musical instruments - large musical instruments that do not fit in to hand luggage, will be allowed as a second item, however, they will be screened separately.

Liquids - you are now allowed to take small quantities of liquids in your hand luggage. These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres each. You must pack these containers in one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of not more than one litre (20cm by 20cm) capacity per passenger.
