Free childcare for two, three and four year olds
Childcare and learning in early years can help to enhance a child’s overall development and give them the best possible start in life by:
- Giving children opportunities and experiences to new activities and toys
- Helping to develop children’s social skills by making friends and having fun
- Supporting children to begin to get ready for school
Childcare is provided by registered providers and to ensure that they are providing good quality childcare they are inspected by Government inspectors Ofsted. Professionals working with children are also police checked.
Eligible two year olds will be entitled to up to 15 hours per week of free childcare for a minimum of 38 weeks per year from the school term following their second birthday in a Ofsted registered childcare setting with either a of Good or Outstanding inspection rating.Is your child three or four years old?
Three and four year old children can have up to 15 hours per week of free early education for a minimum of 38 weeks of the year from the school term after their third birthday until they reach school age.
