West Midlands Police and Crime Panel - Complaints and Misconduct Procedure

The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel has certain duties for recording and handling complaints and conduct matters about the Bob Jones - Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Yvonne Mosquito - Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC).

Any complaints or conduct matters that are criminal in nature must be recorded by the Panel and then referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) for investigation.

Other non-criminal complaints are handled by the Panel. However if you have an ongoing complaint, we would normally require that complaint process to be completed before we look into the matter. A copy of the Panel’s Complaints Procedure is attached below.

There are a number of ways you can make a complaint:

By email: wmpcp@birmingham.gov.uk

By telephone: 0121 464 6871

By post to: WMPCP, Scrutiny Office, Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 1BB

There are some things the Panel can’t look into because it does not have the legal power to do so. We are not able to deal with complaints about operational policing matters or the performance of West Midlands Police or any of its officers. Such complaints should be sent to the West Midlands Police Professional Standards Department.

The Panel can not deal with complaints about the PCC staff, including the Assistant PCCs and Non-Executive Board Members. Such complaints should be sent to the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Police and Crime Commissioner is also responsible for recording and investigating complaints about the Chief Constable. If you want to contact the Commissioner about a complaint please use the Office for Policing and Crime website or telephone 0121 626 6060.
