Equalities and Diversity in Corporate Resources
Equality and Diversity Information
Birmingham City Council believes that considering equality is not just about meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, it also means promoting fairness and equal opportunities for all its customers and staff.
To comply with the law, and to go beyond, we need to monitor the different characteristics and needs of our customers and staff. If we don’t collect relevant information; such as age, race, sex etc; we can never know if we are addressing equalities issues.
The Corporate Resources Directorate was formed in November 2010 as a result of the Chief Executive’s review of the corporate centre. It includes corporate functions that previously sat in either the former Resources or Chief Executive’s Directorates.
The Directorate’s mission is “delivering a better future for Birmingham people through a transformed City Council”. Our objective is to ensure that the Council delivers for Birmingham people in the most cost-effective ways possible.
Our activities include front-line delivery around revenues and benefits, key support functions such as finance, strategy and legal services and critical transactional services such as payroll and HR.
The documents below will set out how the Directorate is tackling equality issues across each of its Divisions.
