Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness.

As an independent regulator they act in the public interest to protect against risks to health or safety arising out of work activities across Great Britain.

Anyone developing property and having construction or building work carried out has legal duties as a 'client' under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM 2007), unless they are a domestic client.

Domestic Clients

If you are having work done on your own home (or the home of a family member) that does not relate to any trade or business then as a domestic client you do not have duties under CDM 2007. However, anyone who works for you on construction projects will.
