Development Directorate - Planning Management
Head of Planning Managment: Richard Goulborn,
Planning Management continues to be at the forefront of Birmingham's transformation into a modern, vibrant international city, which today boasts many award-winning developments. Its role is to encourage and guide development that will help make Birmingham one of the world's top cities - a place where people increasingly want to live, work and visit and where businesses choose to invest
We prepare local planning policies, development plans and design guidelines. We also encourage forward-thinking, long-term, top quality design through the planning application process.
Planning Management ensure that all major planning application schemes address sustainability issues during the planning application process, with sustainability matters being a crucial part of the determination process both by Officers and the Planning Committee.
Work continues to refine the online provision of the Planning Application Statutory register; the ability to see documents and plans on current applications and make comments online.
The Enforcement Statutory Register will be deployed online in 2011 along with improved methods to report breaches of planning control.
Links to the Planning Portal and Planning Inspectorate will be strengthened to ensure the submission of planning applications and appeals online continues.
A wholesale review of information provided on the website in respect of all Planning services will be undertaken as part of integration with the Customer First programme.
