Job Applications

Overview

The Elections Office appoints casual staff at different times of the year, to assist in both the running of elections, and also during the annual canvass.

The next scheduled election is the combined Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections which will take place on Thursday 5 May 2016. The count for the Local Elections will take place on Thursday night following close of poll, and the Police and Crime Commissioner Election count taking place on Friday 6 May 2016. The first election of Sutton Coldfield parish councillors will also be held on 5 May 2016 in the Sutton Coldfield Constituency only and will be counted on Saturday 7 May 2016.

We still have a number of vacancies across the city:

  • Poll Clerks: Thursday 5 May 2016, 6.30am to 10.15pm.
  • Counting Assistants: Thursday 5 May 2016 starting at 9.30pm and Friday 6 May 2016 starting at 9.15am.

Interested applicants should complete the attached application form and return it by email to: electionsoffice@birmingham.gov.uk

Please pass the attached application form to any persons interested. It is not necessary to be a City Council employee in order to work at the Election.

We send out the majority of our information via email now, including job offers. Therefore please ensure that you provide an up-to-date email address on any application form you submit.

Please be aware that due to the high number of application forms we receive, it is not possible to confirm receipt of application forms. We will also not inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful, as it is possible that vacancies will arise at the last minute.

Essential Information
  • The current Register Of Electors is available for inspection at the Elections Office, The Council House, Birmingham, B1 1BB during office hours. The Elections Office is open 8:45 am to 5:00pm (Mon to Thurs) and 8:45am to 4:15pm (Fri).

    Electors’ information is held on a street name basis. You will need an address to search for individuals.
