New Inquiry: Mental Health: Working in Partnership with Criminal Justice Agencies
For our first Inquiry of the new municipal year, our aim is to explore how Birmingham City Council and its partners can work together more effectively to identify and reduce the number of those with Mental Health issues entering the criminal justice system.
We are inviting people and organisations from across the city to send us their views on this complex issue. We want to find out how mental health is understood across the different agencies, and who takes responsibility. We know some groups are over-represented in both criminal and mental health systems, so how are such inequalities being addressed? What is the role of the different agencies and how do they communicate and come together to support these vulnerable people?
We have put together a number of questions, or ‘key lines of enquiry’ that we will be discussing in public meetings in September & October. Please see the attached document below for further details of how you can get involved and submit your views. We would like to receive your views by the end of August in order that these can be fed into our evidence gathering sessions.
