Committee Site Visits
Members of the Planning Committee may sometimes defer a planning application until its next meeting so that they can visit the site.
Why might it be deferred for a site visit?
Members may wish to visit the site before making a decision on an application so that they can have a better understanding of the effects an application may have on an area or its immediate neighbours.
When will the site visit be?
Site visits usually take place on a Thursday afternoon as soon as practical after the application is deferred. If you have commented on an application, you will be notified of the date of the site visit.
Can I attend?
Anyone with an interest in the application is welcome to attend the site visit.
What happens at the site visit?
A planning officer will explain the application and reasons for the visit. They will also make a note of all the issues discussed during the visit.
When on site, Members of the Committee will:-
- Allow the applicant to explain their proposals
- Visit all areas of concern to members of the public (this may entail entering adjoining properties)
- Hear the concerns of local residents
What happens then?
The application will be discussed at the next Committee meeting. Members will discuss what they saw at the site visit and any comments made by interested parties.
