Adoption and Fostering Service: About Us

We have the information
Birmingham is a diverse city with people from different backgrounds. This is reflected in the children that Birmingham Adoption and Fostering Service needs to find homes for. As we know the children who are coming into care and what their needs are, we have the most up to date information about what may be required from you as a foster carer or adopter.

We have the expertise
Our committed social work teams work with children, their families and other professionals involved to develop a unique Care Plan for each child. These Care Plans outline how each child will be looked after and the type of home that would meet each child's needs.

We have the children
When we are searching for a suitable home for each child we look to our own register of approved foster carers and adopters first. In most cases, this is where our search for a suitable home will end.

Where we cannot find a suitable home within our register of carers we will consider making a placement through an independent agency. So, if you would like to be given priority when a child is being placed, it makes sense to apply to Birmingham City Council to adopt or foster.
