Young Consumers of the Year Competition

The Young Consumers of the year competition originated in Birmingham in 1987. It takes the form of a quiz which tests the knowledge young people have of their rights and responsibilities in terms of consumer affairs. Since it began the competition has grown to now becoming a national event with teams taking part from all over the country. Subject areas include: health, safety, your rights, food and drink, the environment, Europe and travel. Teachers and students find it a fun way to be involved in consumer education. You can find more information about the competition on the Trading Standards Institute web site.
