Licensing Dog Breeding Establishments
The relevant legislation in this area is the Breeding of Dogs Acts 1973 and 1991.
A "breeding establishment" applies to any person who carries on a business of breeding dogs with a view to their being sold in the course of such business.
The Acts prescribe standards of management and accommodation and provides for a process of inspection.
An annual inspection takes place, upon renewal of the licence, by the City's Animal Welfare service.
