Central Library Facilities
Baby changing facilities - There is a parent and baby changing room in the Centre for the Child. Please ask a member staff for details.
Car Parking - There are several public car parks near the library. For more details see the Location Map.
Computers - There are computers on the ground floor. Please note this change of location. The computers provide free access to a wealth of information on the internet. You can make a free booking if you are a library member. There is a small charge for printing. The Library Catalogue is available on our web site. You can renew your books or other material and reserve items which are on loan. Please ask the staff if you need help. Computers in Libraries main menu.
Facilities for people with disabilities - The Central Library caters for people with disabilities throughout. There is also a range of specialised equipment to help everyone make full use of all our services.
First Aid - If you require First Aid or assistance please contact a member of staff.
Internet access - The library provides free Internet access. You can book in advance to use this facility.
Lifts - There is a lift available for public use.
Lost property - Any items found in the Central Library are taken to the Security Office on Floor 1. If you have lost anything please contact a member of staff.
Mobile phone area - There is a designated mobile phone area on Floor 2. Please remember to switch off your mobile phone when visiting any other area of the library.
Photocopying - There are photocopiers for public use in each department. The charges for photocopying are as follows: A4 - 10p per copy, A3 - 20p per copy. Prices for computer printouts are the same. If you need assistance please ask a member of staff. Colour photocopying facilities are available on Floor 4 at a cost of 50p per A4 and £1 per A3 sheet. A4 colour computer printouts are 50p.
Public telephones - There are public payphones on the ground floor.
Refreshment area - Floor 1 - The cafe has now been replaced by vending machines. You can also eat and drink your own refreshments here during the opening hours of the library.
Toilets - There are public toilets on Floor 2. There are also toilet facilities for people with disabilities and a toilet for children in the Centre for the Child. Please ask a member of staff for more details.
Word Processing - Library computers can be used for word processing. You can print your document for a small charge, or use a memory stick. Please remember to do this well before your session times out automatically after one hour. You can write your CV in the Learning Centre.
