Celebrating Construction Awards 2011

On Friday 1 July at the ICC, Building and Consultancy Services hosted its most successful Celebrating Construction event ever.

T he Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Anita Ward, presented the awards and Sandi Toksvig hosted the evening.

This year’s event was co-hosted by Birmingham City Council (BCC), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE).

Over 850 professionals from the construction industry attended to celebrate the best of buildings in the West Midlands. These awards pay tribute to organisations that seek nothing less than excellence in their strategic and operations activities. The awards are presented to the builders who achieve outstanding quality in their construction work, particularly in relation to the building control process.

Trevor Haynes, Assistant Director of Building and Consultancy Services said, This event allows us to showcase local authority building control services in the best possible light to potential clients. Working with partner organisations CIOB, WMCCE and other local authorities across the West Midlands which include Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton we have achieved our goal.

Paul Brown, Community Manager, Building and Consultancy Services who has led the judging panel for a number of years, stated: Each year, the standard increases and it a privilege to meet so many contractors who take a real pride in their work. Our winning projects are as diverse as Birmingham itself, but all have been singled out for their high quality.
