Selly Oak Convention 01.12.12

The Selly Oak District Convention took place on 1 December 2012, at the Beeches Management Centre. Attendees included Councillors, partners organisations, District Officers and most importantly local community groups and residents from across the district.
The morning session was given over to discussion workshops on the key themes below:
Health and Wellbeing - facilitated by Karen Creavin, Birmingham City Council
Community Safety - facilitated by Police Sargent Suraya Latif - 21C Selly Oak Constituency Police Service and Austin Rodriguez, Birmingham City Council
Young People and Children - facilitated by Jan Collymore, District Youth Service, Birmingham City Council
Being a Co-operative District - Paul Slatter and Hanah Worth, Chamberlain Forum
The afternoon session was given over to Ward round table discussions facilitated by local Ward Councillors.
The event also included a presentation of Ward Champion Awards for Brandwood, Billesley, Bournville and Selly Oak Wards, as well as a District Special Recognition Award. These awards below were to recognise contributions in volunteering and active citizenship and were presented by Steve McCabe MP and Karen McCarthy, District Chair.

Bournville Ward - Peter Walker and Brenda Thomas ( Stirchley Neighbourhood Forum)

District Special Recognition Award - Emma Woolf ( Friends of Cotteridge Park )
