The Regulation and Enforcement Division of Birmingham City Council consists of a variety of service areas; each one has significant responsibility for enforcing criminal and civil legislation relevant to its area of work.
The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 requires us to publish an Enforcement Policy which we review annually. The policy commits Regulation and Enforcement to good enforcement practice and describes what businesses, or indeed anyone, can expect in terms of when and how our officers take legal action.
The service areas that are particularly affected by the policy are:-
A consultation on the Enforcement Policy closed on 18 February and the latest Enforcement Policy which is attached below was approved by the Licensing and Public Protection Committee at their meeting in March 2013.
The policy can be made available on tape, in braille or in large type if required.
