Council Plan 2010+

The Council Plan is our contribution from 2010-2013 to delivering the long term vision as described in "Birmingham 2026", the city's sustainable community strategy.

We have defined our vision according to the five long-term strategic outcomes Birmingham people identified. We want to enable Birmingham people to:

1. Succeed Economically

  • benefit from education, training, jobs and investment

2. Stay Safe in a Clean, Green City

  • living in safe and clean neighbourhoods

3. Be Healthy

  • enjoy long and healthy lives

4. Enjoy a High Quality of Life

  • benefit from good housing and renowned cultural and leisure opportunities

5. Make a Contribution

  • value one another and play an active part in the community

The Council Plan defines sub-outcomes that will help us to achieve the five long-term strategic outcomes. Each of the sub-outcomes has corresponding challenges and priority actions. The challenges explain what might make progress difficult and the priority actions explain how we will overcome these and achieve the sub-outcomes. The priorities have been re-prioritised as necessary to meet greater demands on particular service areas to demonstrate our commitment to Birmingham people in the current economic climate.

We have conducted a stocktake of achievements, highlighting success made in last year showing how we have progressed since the last update.
