New Funding for Digbeth and Jewellery Quarter
The Digbeth and Jewellery Quarter areas are important components of the city centre, contributing to the industrial heritage and authentic character of the city as a whole. By embracing the existing building fabric and historic roots and delivering high quality developments, both Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter will continue to become thriving creative and cultural hubs for the city.
The variety and quality of businesses and their premises varies considerably. Many properties are in need of redevelopment and rejuvenation. Other sites are underused or vacant and require investment to ensure the areas, and the businesses located within them, continue to provide a high quality physical environment that is fit for modern day business purposes.
We secured funding from the European Union to primarily support small and medium businesses and enterprises who wish to improve and develop their land and property. You are now invited to apply for this funding.
The emphasis of the grant is to help enable physical improvements to properties (particularly listed buildings), generate employment growth, retain jobs and enhance economic competitiveness.
To achieve this, the end use of the building would generally be for manufacturing and processing or office uses, as defined by B1 and B2 of the Planning Use Classes Order.
Please note retail, housing, education and leisure uses are not eligible. Talk to us if you are unsure.
Works could include new buildings, extending existing commercial premises, internal works, fixed plant and equipment, and demolitions, land clearance and reclamation which would lead to new commercial space.
Two levels of funding are still available
Property Assistance Programme - Grants are available up to 50% of the eligible project costs, up to a maximum grant value of £100,000. Applications are still invited and will be considered on a first come first served basis, until the funding is allocated.
If you have any queries relating to this, please contact us.
See the map below to find out if your property falls within the area eligible for funding assistance.
Programme priorities for the target areas are summarised in the Key Priorities document below.
As well as helping to save and create jobs, this funding will also help to develop the areas into high quality places to do business and deliver the wider aspirations of the Big City Plan.
