Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan - Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)

Approved Planning Policies Banner

The Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan was prepared to help protect and enhance the unique character of the Jewellery Quarter, nationally known due to its long history as a centre of jewellery and small metalware production. Its concentration of converted house, workshops and manufactiories are unparalleled anywhere else in the world.

This document identifies the special interests of the areas and provides a definition of its character. It then goes on to provide a management plan for the future enhancement and preservation of the area. This document is used when we consider planning applications for development in the area.
