Four Oaks Estate Development Guidelines - Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
The Four Oaks Estate Development Guidelines were prepared to help preserve and enhance this area of private residential housing, of national significance due to its design and layout influenced by the Arts and Craft Movement of the early 20th century. Most of the houses consist of large detached dwellings set in generously landscaped wooded grounds, based on a framework of tree lined private avenues.
In the last 30 years there has been pressure to develop these plots with infill properties which would significantly affect the unique character of the area. These guidelines identify the criteria we will consider when planning applications for development are proposed.
The guidelines cover the majority of properties in the Four Oaks Conservation Area. A plan is attached at the end of the document below. Find out more about the conservation area and its boundary here.
