Residential Uses (Specific Needs) - Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
Shortcut to this page : www.birmingham.gov.uk/resspecificneeds
These guidelines provide advice on the planning issues involved in the following types of residential accommodation:
- Houses in Multiple Occupation
- Residential Care
- Nursing Homes
- Student Accommodation
The nature of the people living in such accommodation is not relevant in planning terms. However, how the property is used and how it affects the surrounding neighbourhood is vital in meeting local housing needs.
The document explains how we will interpret the policies in the Unitary Development Plan and also sets specific additional policies in relation to student accommodation, both bedroom sizes and facilities.
