Parks and Open Space Strategy - Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

Approved Planning Policies Banner

The Parks and Open Space Strategy is intended to protect and guide the planning, design, management, maintenance and provision of parks and public open spaces in the city until 2021. It was written at the same time as the Playing Pitch Strategy and the Sport and Physical Activity Strategy. The three complementing documents provide our response to the government's national 'Planning for Open Space and Recreation - Planning Policy Guidance 17'.

The 30 policies in the Strategy not only identify the issues we will consider when determining planning applications that involve the creation, or loss, of a park or open space, but also how we will look to involve the community in the choices we make and how the areas will be maintained.

The Strategy was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in November 2006.

Document Status : Statutory Policy Document - Adopted November 2006
