Location of Advertising Hoardings - Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
These guidelines for the location of advertisement hoardings cover displays from 12 to 96 sheet panel sizes. The document outlines the criteria against which we will determine applications for advertisement consent.
Applications for hoardings can only be considered on the grounds of amenity, ie the impact on the area the hoarding is proposed to be displayed, and public safety, including causing a distraction to motorists. The document also looks at the impact of such displays on conservation areas, listed buildings and other land uses across the city.
The document is available below and was adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance in 1998.
