This document sets out how parts of Washwood Heath, Bordesley Green, Bordesley Village and Small Heath could grow and develop over the next 15 years.

We started looking at this part of the city in 2009 to see how the unique character of the area and its community could be further enhanced. Based on the evidence gathered, an Options Report was prepared which sought to

  • enhance connections to the city centre, by road and foot
  • improve the physical environment, both its buildings and green spaces
  • reduce carbon emissions and
  • promote growth, in terms of new buildings and transport developments in the area

The potential options in the Report explored how new developments and uses could transform four areas in particular

  • the Wheels site and its surrounding area
  • Adderley Park
  • Alum Rock Road and
  • Small Heath Local Centre

We asked for your comments on the Options Report in September / October 2011. We are now considering all the comments received to help us decide which options to take forward in a 'Preferred Option' document. We will then ask for your comments again. This is likely to be sometime late 2012/early 2013.

A pdf version of the Options Report is below along with a map showing the area covered by the proposals.

Document Status : Draft - consultation responses under consideration
