Birmingham City Council

Economic Inclusion Panel

The West Midlands Economic Inclusion Panel brings together leaders from across the public, private and voluntary sectors to find new and innovative ways to tackle the serious levels of worklessness experienced across the West Midlands. Originally established and funded by Advantage West Midlands, and now hosted by the City Council, the Panel has focused on two major themes:

  • the scope to harness public sector procurement as an important means to increase access to jobs and skills opportunities for local people, as well as access to public sector contracts for local SMEs, social enterprises and the voluntary sector more generally; and
  • the need for a consistent, evidence-based approach to policy development on tackling worklessness.
