Census and Population Information
These web pages display a selection of key results from the 2001 Census and other sources of population information.
The latest national Census of Population took place on 29 April 2001. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the agency responsible for the 2001 Census in England and Wales. The Census is the most comprehensive source of information about the country population and for the first time the information will be freely available by anyone via the National Statistics Website.
