Ombudsman Complaints

The Local Government Ombudsman looks at complaints about councils and other local authorities, such as education admissions appeal panels. It is a free service. Their job is to investigate complaints in a fair and independent way - they do not take sides.

We monitor all complaints received about us from the Local Ombudsman to see if there are any trends and to see how our service can be improved. The table below shows the number and type of Ombudsman complaints we have received in the last couple of years.

Find out how comments, compliments and complaints have lead to improvements in our service.

* A premature ombudsman complaint is where we have not investigated a complaint ourselves before it has been made to the Ombudsman. If you are thinking of going to the Ombudsman, you are advised to make a formal complaint to us first .
