Prize Gaming Permits
Prize gaming is a form of normally low stakes and prizes gambling in which neither the nature nor the size of the prize is determined by the number of persons playing nor the amount paid for or raised by the gaming. The prize can be a cash or non-cash prize.
Holders of premises licences under the Act and holders of club gaming permits may not apply for prize gaming permits. Prize gaming permits do not permit the provision of gaming machines.
The permit will have effect for 10 years. There is no annual fee to be paid.
Various forms of prize gaming are permitted as part of many of the other permits and premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005. The following premises are authorised by the Act to offer prize gaming, subject to certain conditions, and do not require a separate Prize Gaming Permit:
- Holders of Adult Gaming Centre Premises Licences
- Holders of Family Entertainment Centre Premises Licences
- Holders of Family Entertainment Centre Gaming Machine Permits
- Travelling Fairs
- Bingo Halls

Once you have completed the relevant application form it can be submitted to the Licensing Section by a variety of means:
By Email - Completed applications can be submitted electronically by attaching the completed form and any associated supporting documents to the email@example.com email address.
(Please note that electronic applications submitted by email can only be accepted if there is a scanned signature on the application form).
On receipt of your application by email a Licensing Officer will contact the applicant to acquire payment of the appropriate fee via a debit or credit card.
By Post - Send completed applications to the address as indicated on our contact us page.
Postal applications must be accompanied by a cheque or postal order for the appropriate fee (see - Fees & Charges Schedule) and made payable to 'Birmingham City Council'.
In Person - applications can be submitted in person at the address and during the times shown on our contact us page.

Our target for dealing with applications is 28 days. However all applications should be determined within 60 days of receipt of all the information necessary to determine the application.
