Free Books Online

These pages offer links to the complete texts of books, plays and poems which can be downloaded for free over the Internet. Due to copyright restrictions most of the material freely available online dates from before 1920.

Please note:
Downloading books can be slow. Due to the large file sizes involved, you are often given the choice between downloading a ZIP file (which compresses the material) or a text version. You should only download the ZIP version if you have the relevant software on your machine. If you're not sure, download the text or .txt version.
