Join our informal reading group which meets in the library on the first Thursday of the month from 10 - 11.30am.
The group was set up as a result of public demand for a daytime Reading Group at Erdington Library, which was more general in nature than the successful Crime Reading Group.
Everyone is welcome and tea and coffee are available.

The recent winner of the 'Book for Birmingham' Mary Rochford visited Erdington Library to talk about the locations and characters in her book of short stories 'Gilded Shadows'. The stories are set in Ireland and Birmingham. She did a couple of readings from the book and the session was much enjoyed by members of the Bookwormers Reading Group who are looking forward to the publication of her next novel. Mary has given talks in several libraries in Birmingham and she said how much she had enjoyed the visits and how hard she thought that librarians worked to encourage reading.
Some members of the group went to hear Elizabeth Noble speaking about her writing at the Library Theatre.
Visit by Anne Bennett
An audience of about 30 people enjoyed the talk by Anne Bennettabout her writing. She talked a bit about her Irish and Brummie background and how she had started to write. Then she shared with the audience how she puts a novel together. Everyone said how much they had enjoyed meeting Anne and several books were sold. Anne Bennett proved to be an interesting speaker and her friendly down to earth manner produced lively feedback from the audience. A very successful event! Also thanks should be recorded to Hilda who valiantly helped with the washing up at the end.
