On most PCs you can save your work on a memory stick.
The Networked printer is located at the enquiry desk. This is an A4 size, colour, and laser printer. Charges apply. If you are printing confidential information please note that, although the printer is under staff supervision, there is limited privacy.
As well as the Internet terminals around the library, there are six QuickNet computers in the entrance foyer. They offer automatic 20 minute sessions with printing facilities*.
*The Cafe computers do not offer a printing facility.
You will need your library card number and PIN to book a computer. This will mean an end to queuing and you will be able to reserve a computer at the time you want to use it. If you don't have a library card, have lost it or forgotten your PIN, please speak to a member of staff.
Two computers with Supernova software are available in the Internet Centre. These offer screen magnification and text-to-speech; 19" monitors; trackball mice; height adjustable desks. There are a further two sets of accessibility IT equipment in the Music Library on Floor 3 which are available on Wednesdays to Saturdays only due to current Central Library opening hours.
Facilities are available in the Learning Centre on Floor 1. There are PCs for writing or updating CVs and job application letters. You can use your own disc, provided it is virus-free (staff will check this for you). Alternatively, a new disk can be bought for 50p. It is also possible to attach a CV to an online job application and to search the Internet for jobs or courses. The first printout is free, then 10p per sheet. Maximum available booking time is 2 hours.
The Learning Centre has a wide range of self-study materials in various formats. A list of self-study material is available from the Learning Centre.
