Opening Times from 4 January 2013
The library is now open at the following times - Ground Floor, Floors 1 and 2 only:- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10am – 6pm (Please note that the computers in the Internet Centre and QuickNet will be switched off at 5.45pm. WiFi will still be available.)
- Wednesday 10am - 8pm (Please note that the computers in the Internet Centre and QuickNet will be switched off at 7.45pm. WiFi will still be available.)
- Saturday 9am – 5pm ( *Please note the Internet Centre is now open from 9am to 4.45pm on Saturdays.)

Preparations for the new Library of Birmingham are entering the final stages. Staff at Central Library have done an amazing job maintaining services for as long as possible, but the time has come when we must further reduce services, intensify efforts to get ready for the move, plan new services and get ready to close the doors at Central Library forever in the summer.Find out more about changes at Central Library

Book Sale
The Central Library’s general book sale is now set up in the Internet Centre, on the Ground Floor. To begin with a small collection of books on Computing/IT, Films/Filmmaking, Photography and Travel Guides will be on sale to the public.Birmingham Central Library

Designated collections
Birmingham Central Library is one of the largest and most important public libraries in Europe.
Collections in this library have been designated as outstanding collections by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
There are eight floors available for public use and material is divided into areas broadly along subject lines.
